The air conditioning system is not maintenance-free; it needs to be cleaned and disinfected regularly. Currently, the vehicle's ventilation and air conditioning system can become an area for coronavirus transmission. Studies show that the COVID-19 virus can survive on different surfaces for up to 80 hours. One method of disinfection is ozonation. Ozone, or "active oxygen," is a gas that reaches even the most inaccessible places inside the vehicle and the air conditioning system. Ozone has strong disinfecting properties, eliminates unpleasant odors, and most importantly, fungi, bacteria, and viruses. We offer two models: Ozone-Maker and Ozonator MX4000, with efficiencies of 1000 and 4000 mg/h, respectively. The Ozone-Maker is designed for disinfecting passenger cars, while the more efficient MX4000 is ideal for buses and larger vehicle cabins.
As of July 1, 2024, ozone has been registered in the EU as an active substance (EU Regulation 2023/1078). Each introduction of an ozone-producing product to the market requires authorization. The Ozonator Ozon M-MX has been registered as a biocidal product, meaning that a mechanic or other end user can legally generate ozone using it. Marelli protects both its current product users and those who have already purchased the device. Generating ozone through uncertified devices can expose the end user to severe penalties from health or environmental protection authorities and a mandate to withdraw the device from circulation.
The Ozone Maker is a device that, by ionizing atmospheric air, produces the unstable allotrope of oxygen known as ozone (O3). Ozone, as a very strong oxidant, removes all impurities present in the cabin. It effectively eliminates moisture accumulating mainly on floor mats and the air conditioner's evaporator. It also eliminates unpleasant odors. Depending on the vehicle cabin size and contamination level, the device has selectable operating modes and times (5, 10, 15, 30, 60 minutes). For buses, it is recommended to use multiple Ozone Maker devices. Ozone (O3) is present in the atmospheric air, where it forms from oxygen under ultraviolet radiation.
Ozone is heavier than air, unstable, and decomposes quickly. Its decomposition is accelerated by increased temperature, humidity, and air pollution. In water, ozone breaks down more rapidly than in air. In its gaseous form, it is colorless, appearing blue in thicker layers. In liquid form, it is intensely dark blue, and almost black in solid form. As a very strong oxidizing agent, much stronger than oxygen, it has significant applications in the industry.

Thanks to its compact design and long lead pipe for ozone emission, removing contaminants is exceptionally easy. Placing the pipe's end, fitted with a probe, in the desired cabin area or pollen filter location poses no problems.
