Repairing Technical Information System (ReTIS)

Today, in order to meet the requirements of a professional workshop, printed technical documentation is no longer sufficient. In response to customer expectations, Magneti Marelli has developed ReTIS – an effective tool designed for fast technical reference for an active vehicle fleet. Updated content, better aligned with current needs, together with a refreshed graphic design, make the program even more user-friendly.

The ReTIS system is an extensive database containing technical information for passenger and light commercial vehicles with petrol and diesel engines. The license is granted in the form of an annual subscription, which entitles customers to free updates.

ReTIS – Technical Support for Mechanics

ReTIS is a technical data repository, providing comprehensive support for mechanics during fault diagnosis and repair.

The system contains information on:

vehicle identification,

scheduled technical inspections,

adjustment data,

lubricants and operating fluids,

engine technical data and adjustments,

technical drawings,

engine management systems (including component locations),

ABS systems,

airbag systems,

fuses and relays,

air conditioning systems,

electrical wiring diagrams,

Information Structure in the ReTIS System

For each vehicle make and model, four groups of information are available:

1. Summary Data – repair time standards, adjustment data, timing system replacement information.

2. Scheduled Maintenance – service schedules, service interval reset procedures, periodic maintenance procedures, and forms.

3. Repair Data – categorized information covering the engine, transmission, steering and suspension, brakes, and interior and exterior components.

4. Electronics – information on the engine, steering and suspension, brakes, interior and exterior components, fuses and relays, component locations, electronic procedures, warning lights, and indicators.

The system can be further expanded with the SmartPACK™ module, which includes SmartFIX™ and SmartCASE™.

SmartFIX™

SmartFIX™ is a practical database containing information on service operations recommended by vehicle manufacturers at specific mileage intervals. The module includes checklists of components requiring inspection or replacement, along with assigned labor times for each operation.

SmartCASE™

SmartCASE™ is a database of unique technical information based on real workshop experience in solving problems encountered during vehicle servicing. The module enables fast problem identification, describes possible causes, and suggests ready-to-use solutions.

Each case includes:

a problem description,

the cause of the issue,

a recommended solution.

Faults can be searched by:

fault code,

vehicle system or area,

noise generated,

symptom description,

operating conditions under which the fault occurs.

VESA™ Module – Intelligent Vehicle Electronics Assistant

VESA™ (Vehicle Electronics Smart Assistant) is a tool supporting accurate diagnostics of vehicle electronic systems. By using fault codes read from diagnostic testers, it allows faster and more precise fault identification.

The module guides the mechanic step by step, asking “yes” / “no” questions. It displays only selected parts of wiring diagrams, focusing on relevant components and showing relationships between sensors, control units, and other system elements.
